Taupe with an Accent Look

Today I wore a simple taupe, The Pointy End by Geek Chic Cosmetics. It's a perfect colour for my skin tone, a cool greyish-brown with a metallic sheen. When I got home I wanted to take pictures but thought that the taupe needed some extra kick, so I lined my waterline with turquoise gel liner by Inglot. Just the right amount of colour to set off the metallic taupe!

I used:
Geek Chic Cosmetics - The Pointy End (metallic taupe, as a smoky eye)
Sugarpill - Tako (matte white, as brow highlight and at inner corners)
Inglot - Gel liner 87 (dark turquoise, as waterline color)

This one shows the taupe too warm, it's actually colder. One day I will learn to use my light correctly to get the shades to
display as they should, but that day is clearly not today ;P

Console Television and Newb Look

Here's what I wore today! It's rainy and grey, but I wanted to put on nice make-up anyway. I opted for bright lips and neutral eyes. I'm eagerly waiting for Wave Gotik Treffen already, today I booked an appointment with my favourite hairdresser to get my locks looking good before the trip.

Geek Chic Newb (light skin tone, on the lid)
Maybelline Super Stay 10H Tint Gloss in Forever Fuchsia

I didn't get a decent picture with my eye open, but I swear this was the best one ;P

Console Television looks very dark in the pot, but on skin it has a strong
golden sheen which makes it a lot lighter. Sorry for the touch of turquoise
at the lash line, I didn't remember to wipe my lash curlers so they had some
eyeshadow from yesterday's look.

These self shots are always cropped very interestingly ;) The lens I use captures
very small area, so it's hard to aim!

Sloth Snuggles and Newb Look

Here, once more, is a look with a Fyrinnae shadow. I just can't help myself! This is the second last one from my last order, but luckily a new one should be arriving soon ;)

This is Sloth Snuggles for Fyrinnae (a medium taupe, in the crease) and Newb by Geek Chic Cosmetics (skin tone shadow, on the lid).

Cyclopean Look

I am wearing Cyclopean by Geek Chic Cosmetics. I did a review of another eyeshadow from the same collection, called Non-Euclidean. I thought it looked very different in the shop swatch. Chantel was so kind as to put a free sample of Cyclopean in the bag when she sent me other shades to review. She said Cyclopean might be closer to the shade I had thought Non-Euclidean was, and she was totally right! This is just the right dark green shade I was looking for :)

I also tried adding mascara in the roots of my lashes with a small eyeliner brush, I think it worked really well and makes my make-up look more polished.

All Brown Look

On Wednesday I wore mainly taupes. Sorry about the badly cropped pictures, the kitties were so active in the morning that they woke me up hours before I was supposed to get up and I was feeling a bit tired. I guess it shows, since all my eye pictures were really weird ;P

Fyrinnae Fire Opal (dark warm bronze, applied very lightly and blended to oblivion over Newb in the crease)
Fyrinnae Beholder (medium taupe with satin finish, padded lightly over Newb on the outer corner of the lid)

Look of the Day

Today I wore a toned down look because I did a video interview in the afternoon. The day turned out to be super busy, but I'm finally home after running around the city on different errands and looking stiff in front of a video camera ;P

I put the stain on first, then the tint gloss on top to make it last longer.

Chantel from Geek Chic Cosmetics was super nice and sent me a few samples of their newest collection, Scapers!

Yotz!, Anarchist Priest and Bonded to the Stars

I got three colours: Anarchist Priest, Yotz! and Bonded to the Stars. The collection's theme is Farscape, a sci-fi TV-series which I just happened to watch when I was a teenager. My other half also has the whole series on DVD's, tempting me to watch it once again! But on to the eyeshadows ;)

Bonded to the Stars

Bonded to the Stars is a light acid green. It has silver, turquoise and green microglitter to give the shade some depth. It has some shimmer in the base colour, too.

Anarchist Priest

Anarchist Priest look very purple in the site's photo, but goes on my skin blue. It has blue and purple glitter, but the matte, vibrant blue base takes most of the attention.

Yotz!

Yots! is such a pretty colour! It's a vibrant shimmery raspberry pink with lots of blue glitter.

All of these sample colours are very bold and very pigmented. They went on nice and creamy, and while the glitter in them was more apparent in the pot than on skin, it never disappeared. I'd expect that when you blend the colours on the lid, some glitter may fall off, but adding a little bit more of the colour will help restore the glittery look just fine!

New Swatches

I've soon gone through my box of new shadows to swatch, but don't worry, when my new lens arrives I'll be re-swatching old ones to get better pictures!

Here are a few purple and my favourite taupe.

Shiro Not Very Effective, Shiro Shinigami, Geek Chic The Pointy End and
Femme Fatale The Dark One

The two Shiro shadows look very similar in the jar, but their differences are clear when swatched. The jars were packed so full I had to remove the sifters to get some shadow on my brush!

Not Very Effective - A blackened purple, very dark with multicoloured glitter.

Shinigami - Dark purple with silver shimmer and microglitter.

The Pointy End - My so far favourite taupe! Medium to dark, cool and with a metallic sheen.

The Dark One - Looks lavender in the jar, but on skin the darkness shows well. A blackened, blue based purple with lavender sheen and magenta microglitter.

Geek Chic Non-Euclidean Review

Geek Chic Cosmetics released a H. P. Lovecraft's Cthulhu mythos' inspired collection a while ago. I'm a big Lovecraft fan (I have all his works in my bookshelf, plus some doubles with prettier covers ;P) and had been planning to order another shadow for a while. On Black Friday they had a sale and I finally did go shopping!

This is Non-Euclidean eyeshadow that's described on the page like this: "Non-Euclidean is a semi-sheer black with strong rainbow sparkle. Amazing sparkles in this." In the pictures on the page it looks very green and that was what I was expecting. I don't think I even read the description, silly me!

As you can see, the shade is more like gunmetal/dark grey with lots of sparkle. Pretty, but not the shade I was expecting. I feel the base isn't dark enough, it always looks a bit grey and thus takes away from the sparkle a bit. So, note to self: always read the shade description carefully, even if it's named after something by your favourite author!

I got only a sample and plan to mix it with something else. I have many black based shadows with multicoloured glitter and this one sadly isn't among my favourites, so it must go.

It's All Taupe

I re-did an old look! It looked so nice in pictures and is quite hassle free so it's easy to do even when in a hurry. I also tried a different brow shape. What do you guys think, does it suit me?

Taupe Look

Never Too Much Sparkle -group has a taupe theme for this weeks challenge, and since I just got my hands on a super cool taupe, I did a look :)

Rare Find is the perfect light taupe, I think it works really well with my skin tone. The Pointy End was like a darker version of it, so I put some in the crease for shading. Taco is once again on the brow bone and inner corners of eyes. My eyebrows are not so perfect in the pic, since I was leaving for the hairdressers and knew I'll re-do them after all the washing and cutting and wiping of tiny pieces of hair.

I did the shading different than usual, the darker shade is just
in the crease, not all the way down to the last line in the outer part of the lid.

The Pointy End Look

This is my look from the day before yesterday. It's done with just Geek Chic Cosmetics' The Pointy End and a dab of Sugarpill Tako at the inner corners of eyes. The eyeliner is MAC Fluidline in Blactrack, and on my lips a lipstain that I really can't remember ;P Might be the Lumene Lingonberry Lip Stain in Eternity.

Sneak Peek of a Photoshoot

Guess what I did yesterday? Was tormented by toasters gone wild! We did a photoshoot with a photographer friend who needed stuff for his portfolio. 6 hours of shooting after a full day at work, I was exhausted when I finally got home, but had lots of fun! The focus was supposed to be the shoes, but he had wonderful ideas so in the end the shoes are still there, but there's a lot more stuff with them.

Here's a peek of the shoot, it's only a part of a composite picture, but shows off the styling and general feeling. There's going to be a horde of angry toasters surrounding the chair!

I'm wearing Hipster Ariel lipstick by Geek Chic Cosmetics and Sugarpill Dollipop, Bulletproof and Taco. I forgot to pack my eyeshadow primer, so Dollipop stained my lids a bit and I have elegant pinkish eyelids today, but it was worth it ;)

Blix Look

This weeks challenge in Never Too Much Shimmer -group was to do a look by Blix from Glitter is my Crack. I chose this look. Since I don't own any of the same products she used, I just improvised with different neutral and browns I had. Not surprisingly, my look doesn't really look anything like her's ;P Her colours any more intense and darker, and the outer crease colour is a redder brown than mine. I still like the result!

Seems like my lashes have a different opinion as to where they should be.

I think I did pretty well considering I only had one brush to use (the others were all waiting to be washed, I just forgot)!

Neutral Shades Look

Here's my make-up today! I didn't have much time in the morning (I'm terrible at getting up early) so I went for a simple neutral look. I'm sorry about the blurry pics, I had trouble taking photos because there's so little light that the camera doesn't want to focus :( The indoor lighting washes out the taupe, but I'll promise to take better pics in natural light. I want spring to come already so I can take decent pictures and plant some seeds!

The Pointy End is a shimmery taupe from Geek Chic Cosmetics' Win or Die collection which is inspired by George R. R. Martin's Song of Ice and Fire books. I love the books and the Pointy End is one of my favourite colours partly because Arya is one of my favourite characters :) MAC Yogurt doesn't really show up on my skin, just evens out the tone, so I use it as a base for other shadows. Primrose Path by Evil Shades is one of my favourite natural coloured lipsticks, it has a nice amount of shimmer and is very close to my natural lip colour. It also has a yummy candy smell to it!

The MAC foundation works really well, in the pictures I've been wearing it for over eight hours and just lightly blotted the shine off my forehead before taking pictures. The lashes are a bit too long for this look, but I didn't have any that looked like I wanted so these were the closest match.

Party Night Look

Last night I went to have dinner with friends and finished with a house party. It was a long night, but the food was super delicious and the party was wild and had a two lovely kitties attending also :) Here's my party look!

I primed the lid with Urban Decay primer potion, then added MAC Yogurt on the whole lid to act as a base to help with blending the colours. Then I patted Cryptic on the lid and up past the crease, leaving a little bit space at the inner corner of the eye to make the look a bit lighter. Also did the lower lash line with Cryptic. Added Unity to the edge of Cryptic and blended well. Just touch of Tako on the brow bone and the inner corner of the eye and it's finished! A really easy smoky eye look. Added eyeliner to the waterline and lashline, the just glued on a pair of false lashes.

I wanted to keep with the purple theme, so I chose Geek Chic Cosmetics' lipstick in My Little Pwny on the lips and added some sparkly gloss on top. I didn't really have time to do anything with my hair, so it's just pinned up from one side with a skeletal hand clip to show my undercut. The blush is by Fyrinnae, I think it's Temptation but I seem to have lost the label since it was a free sample and I put it in a jar instead of the bag it came in. A really deep plum shade anyway, one of my favourites!
