Revenge of the Snow Queen

I had almost forgotten there were a couple more pictures of my Snow Queen outfit taken with Eliza Rask. I still remember how cold it was to shoot outside, but that's maybe because it's right now colder in Finland than it's been this time of year in over 70 years. Brrrr!

Photographer: Eliza Rask
Model, styling, make-up: Me

With these pictures I also want to celebrate that I was accepted in The Alternative Model Directory! It's an international community for alternative models. I'm most excited about workshops and collaborations they organize, so I'm very happy to have been accepted and look forward to many wonderful projects!

Steamy And Punky

I felt super lucky to get in when Rogue by Tiina Ulkuniemi was looking for models for a steampunk themed photoshoot. I love Tiina's creations and got to wear a gorgeous dress and corset! We had a big group of models, more than I've previously worked with, but it was fun to see how other people work and get useful hints and tips, as well as just have a good time when waiting for your turn :)

Here are the photos, I hope you like them! For more pictures, take a look at the photo album on Rogue's Facebook page. All of the outfits are made by Tiina and absolutely gorgeous. The photographer and make up artist is Maano Meikkaa and the lovely Suvi was our assistant.

Glittery Latex Photoshoot!

I promised pictures of my awesome glitter latex dress, and here they are! The photos are by Kari Vuorio Photo and I think he captured the glittery latex and the look and feel of the dress perfectly. I had the dress custom made by Latex by Tiina Rikala who was an absolute dear and found me this material when I asked for something glittery and purple or petrol. The latex shifts from purple to petrol and is glittery on top of that. Perfect! I've fallen in love with latex, as it's surprisingly easy and comfy to wear. Plus it looks gorgeous!

The location for the shoot was the Lielahden kartano mansion. It's an old building, originally built for a wealthy factory owner, and it's only recently been opened to the public. The building is gorgeous, and there's lots of great spots for photos in the mansion park. It was a very hot day, and while usually direct sunlight is not good for photos, with this dress it brought out the glitter nicely!

This one is my personal favourite! The pair on old doors is the perfect backdrop.

ColourPop Ultra Matte Lips in Dr. M is the perfect match for the dress :)

Girl on Film

Aside from my love for Duran Duran, the headline refers to me working with traditional film. I've developed pictures and used a film camera when I was young, but have never done any modeling for film. It's at once demanding and oddly forgiving, as many films can be developed to have quite high contrast and lovely shades. Where shooting digitally is more like firing as many rounds as it takes and hoping for the best, shooting on film is more about careful positioning and taking that one good shot. I do like both, but film was an interesting experience!

I worked with Saša Mustonen Photography and can highly recommend them! Beautiful work and top notch equipment, plus a nice and relaxed athmosphere. And look at that beautiful background! No photoshop, but an actual painted canvas!

These two were taken with another camera, but look at this one! Gorgeous! You can see the background used for the above photos on the wall.

Finnish Alternative Models Model of the Month

A huge thanks to everyone who took the time to vote for me in the Finnish Alternative Models page's Model of the Month -contest! Can you believe it, I won! I'm now the Model of the Month for May, which means my picture is the profile picture of the page and my blog page will get shared more often.

This is the picture that I participated with. It's taken by Kari Vuorio early 2013 at his studio.

Sneak Peek of Rogue Photoshoot!

Today I was busy modeling for Rogue! I was wicked cold outside, but us models braved the weather and the photographer was so talented she got the perfect shot is just a few frames. It's great working with skilled people!

Here's a little taste of what's coming, an unedited picture straight from the photographer's camera.

Dress by Rogue
Make-up by Marjo Hakala

That's what a short dress and lace pantyhose in freezing weather looks like ;D I had teased my hair, but the air was so moist it just didn't hold. I still like the look of the waves and curls, even though they are not like I originally intended. Last night I came home only around three in the morning after going to Helsinki for a friends, b-day party, so I was a bit tired in the morning and mainly just fluffed up the curls. My other half was so sweet, he curled most of my hair yesterday when he saw how I struggled with the back of my head. My vanity only has one big mirror so it's tricky to work on the backside of the head by yourself. Luckily he's pretty good with hair!

I'll post more pictures when they are finished! I'm so excited to see how they turn out, we had such a great team working on this project!

Kuroineko Clothing Modelling!

I did a photoshoot with Kuroineko Clothing a while back. I've been modelling for them for a few years every time they had a need of a model. Kerttu who runs to shop is super nice and even offered to take some of my jewelry to sell in the webshop! Kerttu designs and sews the custom shirts and recycled EkoNeko shirts herself. This time they also added some fabulous Leg Avenue stuff to the store.

Sorry it's only in Finnish and they only ship to Finland, but I'll post a few pictures for everyone to enjoy :) You can also find my other half there, he models the men's shirts!

Edit: Kerttu just confirmed that Kuroineko does ship internationally! Email your wishes to kuroineko@juunappa.com and all will be handled :)

I still have these fabulous dreads stashed away, just in case I decide to
go blonde again! This is the Button-eyed shirt. It comes in many
colours and there's also a mens model. This was the first photoshoot
with them, if I remember correctly.

This is from the newest shoot, a simple and very wearable printed top called
Tattoo top. It also comes in black, but the white version was really pretty!

I hardly ever wear blue, so this was a new things to me ;P I really love the
print! It's Ravens, a fitting name.

I used to be very blonde before ;P This was taken when my apartment was being
renovated and I was living at my parents summer cottage, did the makeup while on
a bus! Luckily the Devil Girl shirt always looks nice, on a bus or not ;D

And have a look at my legs in the Leg Avenue section, the photographer really did a great job taking pictures of such a boring item as socks! Also featuring the shoes I got for my name day from my other half, I love them to bits :)

Kuroineko also has a few pieces of jewelry by me in their webshop! There are currently two unique pieces and two models that I'll make upon ordering. I'm hoping to set up an Etsy shop so I can offer international shipping and make only unique pieces or maybe two or three copies, since my passion really is making jewelry, not so much selling it. I'm waiting for some business cards to arrive and to get a quote from a shop that makes custom stamps. I want to make the packaging pretty and have everything ready, so once I open the shop there will be no delays :)

Final Pic from the Shoot!

I got the final picture from the photoshoot I posted about earlier, it looks really nice! Since I'm sick (again! It's so unfair!), it makes for an excellent blog post topic on its own ;)

It's composed of several pictures by Riku from Visual Reality. The final version is not yet in the online portfolio, but there's lots of other nice stuff so go take a peek!

I'm wearing a dress from Artifice Clothing, apron by H&M and Jeffrey Campbell's Litas.

The Wedding Fair

The guy who leases my old apartment hooked me up with a friend of his, who was in need of a model for a local wedding fair. I love wearing pretty dresses, so I promised to help her out. It was super cold on the day of the fair, my taxi driver got lost (on a ten minute trip!) and the lady at the ticket booth didn't have up to date name lists and wouldn't let me in. Well, despite all the problems, the fair went well, I had a quick twirl at the stage on both Saturday and Sunday and we took pictures of the dress.

The dress is by Revelations. They specialize in corsets and unique made-to-measure dresses, but also have really pretty designs of their own! Both the seamstresses were really nice persons and if I'm ever in need of a fancy gown, I know where to go :) Their made-to-measure corsets were also really drool-worthy, such pretty fabrics and nice designs!

We were really lucky that the dress fit me perfectly, since we didn't have time to try it before the fair.

My bun was much nicer looking on Saturday when I forced my other half to do it, he did a great job! These pics are from Sunday and feature my own five-minute-bun I whipped up in a hurry ;) Hair and makeup is by me, I'll do a post on the look later on if any of my face shots came out nice.

Here's one to show the lovely draping on the top!

Sneak Peek of a Photoshoot

Guess what I did yesterday? Was tormented by toasters gone wild! We did a photoshoot with a photographer friend who needed stuff for his portfolio. 6 hours of shooting after a full day at work, I was exhausted when I finally got home, but had lots of fun! The focus was supposed to be the shoes, but he had wonderful ideas so in the end the shoes are still there, but there's a lot more stuff with them.

Here's a peek of the shoot, it's only a part of a composite picture, but shows off the styling and general feeling. There's going to be a horde of angry toasters surrounding the chair!

It's in no way finished, but I'm sure the result will be good :) Here's a link to the photographer's portfolio, he does really nice stuff: Visual Reality

I'm wearing Hipster Ariel lipstick by Geek Chic Cosmetics and Sugarpill Dollipop, Bulletproof and Taco. I forgot to pack my eyeshadow primer, so Dollipop stained my lids a bit and I have elegant pinkish eyelids today, but it was worth it ;)
