Tapir and Polar Bear Look

A quick make-up look! This is Fyrinnae Tapir and Fyrinnae Polar Bear. Tapir is a plum purple in the jar, but goes very brown on my skin. In this look I put in on a dark base done with Nyx Jumbo Eye Pen in Black Bean, so it's even darker than usually. Not exactly the shade I was going for, but still looks nice!

Polar Bear is a light yellowish beige with a strong gold sheen. It usually works great with plum purples, but apparently it's also nice with a more brownish shade too :)

And full face, with a slightly smudged pink lip gloss stain (sorry!)

Outfit of the Day

This is me dressed as a black blob with cat hair sprinkled on top ;D I was in a hurry in the morning so I grabbed a few things from my clothes-that-have-been-worn-a-few-times-but-are-not-yet-dirty-enough-to-be-laundry pile. The dress I wore recently with a belt and the top was part of an outfit with a high-waisted skirt.

Poor little Magnus had to be taken to the vet, he's got an ear infection that was so bad it made him walk wobbly. But now he's been on antibiotics since the morning and is already doing better. I'm so proud of how well he behaved at the vet's, it was the first time we have taken him to be examined (he was neutered and vaccinated by the rescue organization we got him from) so you never know what to expect.

Dress - H&M
Top - H&M

This one is trying to show off the back of the dress but the pose is all wrong. The top has a scoop neckline and the dress is a very loose racer back. letting the top's pattern show nicely. While I did look like the Groke from the Moomin stories, it's a very comfy and easy outfit :)

Sugar Polish Gradient

I saw a post on Sanna Von Steam's blog with gorgeous sand effect glitter gradient nails and wanted to try my hand at these! I only own two shades of sugar nail polishes, but luckily they complimented each other just fine. The dark shade with turquoise glitter is Kicks Sugar Lacquer in Moondust, and the light green/blue with gold glitter is Ocean Crush by IsaDora. Sanna's nails are so cute and pastel, mine are a bit darker version :)

Outfit of the Day

Today I'm wearing a simple black skirt and a patterned top. Just an easy outfit for the office. I'm still a bit tired from the cold so just getting up and putting some clothes on is usually enough, but I wanted to wear something nice once in a while :)

Sticker Stripe Nails

I bust out my nail stickers finally! These nails are done with essence nail stickers in the form of long thin stripes. I had some challenges working with them because the stickers wanted to curl with the Seche Vite top coat, but other than that, I'm quite happy with the finished look :)

The basecoat is a gunmetal shade by KleanColor and there's Wet 'n' Wild glitter top coat on the tips to give it a little bling.

OMGWTF and Crypt Look

I almost never wear green, so the section for my green and yellow eyeshadows is the smallest one there is in my drawer unit where eyeshadows are stored. This time I wanted to do something to match my dress. It's a super old Lip Service dress made of China themed satin with safety pin accents. The seller had a horrible picture of the dress, but assured me the pattern on it was pink, so I got it for 25 euros. When it arrived the colour was a bit unusual, and with the muted pink it had red, green orange and golden yellow on it. I thought the green stood out the most so that was then the colour for my eyeshadow!

Full face. You can see the embroidery on the dress in this one, it's full of colours!

I used Fyrinnae OMGWTF for the inner corners, it's bright, light green. The crease is done with Detrivore Cosmetics' Crypt, a lovely olive green with a slight golden sheen. Brows are Inglot gel liner and on my lips is Sephora Cream Lip Stain in Dark Berry.

I'm so glad to be able to wear gel liner on my waterline! When I wore contacts my eyes just hated it, but now after Lasik it works!

Dark Heart Smoky Eye

Inspired by Heidi of Mustaa Kajalia, I wanted to wear a metallic red eyeshadow! This is Dark Heart by Darling Girl Cosmetics, worn as a smoky eye. There's only Sugarpill Tako, a matte white to accompany it in the inner corners and brow bone.

Yesterday I went to the tattooist straight from work and then headed for a beer afterwards. My flying furry thing is now finished with lovely lace around it! I'll take pictures when the arm is less swollen and I'm feeling better. Conveniently just in time for my first free day in forever, I came down with a cold. I'm still going to try and make it to my other half's band's performance this evening, fingers crossed!

And one of me and Magnus, just because he happened to be around when I took the pictures and wanted to sniff my nose :D

Outfit of the Day

Today's outfit! It was rainy but not too cold, so I chose not to wear a jacket today. Yesterday I went to H&M to get a new skirt to wear next week (I have a t-shirt promoting the new game that looks like a sack on me, so I needed a simple black bell skirt to wear with it to show I have a waist) but just couldn't resist these two items I'm wearing in the pictures. I got a dress with an asymmetric hem and a cardigan with a similar silhouette. They had a mannequin wearing this combination and it looked so me that I actually bought the last dress of the very same mannequin ;D

Plenty of fabric in the hem, and it moves so nicely in the wind! I still have some work to do this evening, so after I got home I took a nap. This is what it looked like when my other half snapped a picture ;D

That's Mör on the window sill, Nivek to the left of me, Nana laying on my crotch, Möttönen in the crook of my arm, Myy next to me on the pillow and Magnus doing contortionist stuff at the foot of the bed. It's rare to have all cats in one picture, but they love naptime!

Super Quick Shopping in Germany

While the trip was busy, I managed to find the time to visit a few shops. German shops have an excellent selection of natural cosmetics, even in the smaller stores. I also like many of the cheap-o brands there that are not available in Finland. What I really would have wanted was a couple of Nyx lip butter glosses, but apparently Douglas doesn't carry Nyx or it's available only in selected shops.

2-in-1 Weleda cleansing milk and toner, back combing brush, hair clips, two lip gloss stains, Weleda almond lotion and pomegranate oil, a pair of white contact lenses.
I still did find a few things I liked even with no Nyx in sight! I had planned to do a no-buy this month, but trips don't count, right? ;D It would be just silly to not buy stuff I need for cheap prices abroad!

I always buy a bottle of this cleanser whenever in Germany. It costs less than half of what it does in Finland
(about 7 euros in Germany compared to almost 17 in Finland). It works very well for my skin and I've
 gone through two bottles already.

The Catrice lip gloss stains looked interesting and cost around six euros, so I grabbed a couple. They tend to feather a bit on my lips, but the gloss + stain effect is very nice. Even when the gloss wears off the stain remains, so lips look neat for a long time. The almond face cream and pomegranate oil are trial sizes and cost only a few euros, so I wanted to give them a go since I like Weleda's cleanser so much. The contact lenses I bought from a stall at the Gamescom marketplace. White ones are sometimes hard to get a hold of in Finland and while the prices were almost the same (20 euros for a pair) I saved on shipping when I could just pick them up.

Primark was a new experience for me! My colleague suggested we visit it. I got a back combing brush for 1,50 euros and two packs of black hair clips for 1,50 per pack. I had been looking for long, simple clips so I could clip curls in position to cool when I'm curling my hair, but had not found suitable ones. These look just right and the price was very good!

Home Sweet Home

Sorry for not writing in a while! I packed all I needed for updating to take with me on the trip, but then the internet connection was almost non-existent (in a fine business hotel they suddenly were not prepared that most guests want to use the internet?!) and the schedule was very busy. I was presenting our new game with a colleague and unfortunately she fell ill and there was no one to cover for her so I did some presentations on my own, making it quite hectic!

But everything went well in the end, I just didn't have the time to do any blog updates. Here's a few pictures from the trip, I was in Cologne from Tuesday to Sunday and now went straight back to work on Monday!

The hotel room had a nice fitted carpet, those are unusual in Finland so it felt very exotic!

We did game presentations at Gamescom fair. The fair is HUGE and takes place at Köln Messe,
which has many huge halls. So huge they can easily fit a tank (actually a tank destroyer, maybe a
jab at World of Tanks? ;D) in just to advertise War Thunder ;D

And a second world war air plane next to it, naturally.

This is me and Malthael at the Diablo 3 booth!

A cool statue of an enemy in League of Legends.

Cologne cathedral. I never remember how gorgeous and big it is!
I barely had time to do any shopping, or anything else than work, eat and sleep, but it was a great trip! I love having variety in my work, so while the occasional week of doing presentations is very tiring, it is also fun. If you like building cities, you might want to take a peek at the game I'm working on, it's called Cities: Skylines and the announcement can be found here!

Busy, Busy!

On the third day of my business trip I finally got a working internet connection! As much as I like Germany, with internet there's way too many problems. But since this is a business trip, it's not like I have that much free time any way.

The view from the hotel room window, pretty! I already miss the kitties, although it is quite luxurious to sleep without any cats wanting to come nap under the covers ;D

Ropecon Picture

A picture of us at Ropecon taken by the lovely Selena from Satiinitaivas-blog! A big thanks to her for taking such a nice picture and allowing me to post it :)

I'm going on a business trip, just packed my stuff and now a little bit of Diablo before a tiny bit of sleep an rushing to the airport!

Outfit of the Day

A busy Saturday! I did all the work that had piled up during the week and then headed out to my parents' summer cottage to pick some berries and mushrooms. Got a ride back in my dad's covertible, which was awesome!

Fire in the Night

Yesterday night there were things happening all over the city. I had planned to go see a roller derby match and then a fire show, but sadly the roller derby got cancelled because of heavy rain. But instead I went to have a beer with friends, which was fine also!

The rain let up later so the fire show did happen! They had a steampunk theme and wonderful outfits, and even a fancy robot! My other half took the pictures, I was too short to get the camera high enough ;P

Teal Glitter Nails

More nails! Wearing no eye make-up for a week makes me focus on my nails a lot more ;D These ones have a skin-tone base once again. I used 43 Puff powder by GinaTricot. Their nail polishes are surprisingly high quality. The glitter is essence Effect Nail Polish 06 Party in a Bottle. I don't think I've used it ever before, but it worked very nicely for this glitter gradient, because it has lots of small glitter that can easily be layered.

Please ignore the sneaky cat hair in the picture ;P

Shimmery Stiletto Nails

These nails were done on a whim, I had plenty of time (and new episodes of Toddlers and Tiaras ;P) and just wanted to relax and paint my nails. I started with a skin-tone polish, then painted the edges of each nail with a slightly shimmery purple polish. It was quite thin so it took many layers to get the purple opaque. When the purple was dry, I felt the white tip of my own nails showed too much, so I topped it all with a flakie topcoat, I think this was Essie Shine of the Times. The pictures were taken when the polish was a few days old, thus the tip wear.
