Lumissa's Purple Octopus Earrings

Back in the late summer I checked the stall of Lumissa's Purple Octopus at the marketplace in Tracon. She lovely bat-shaped earrings, but only in a few colours, and I told Tiia the owner that I'd immediately purchase a pair if they came in purple.

When she and her boyfriend were visiting us last month, I had totally forgotten about the earrings! She gave me a pair to experiment with and now I finally have purple bat earrings :)

With two coats on OPI Ink they are perfect!
The earrings are small studs and the bats are made of resin. Tiia suggested using nail polish on them, so when I had the time I took one of my favourite purple polishes and gave it a go. OPI Ink is a bit on the blue side as purples go, but I figured it would work well with the warm pink base colour the bats had.

Before, just look at all that glitter!
The polish hid the glitter, but it has a nice sheen of its own, so I'm not complaining, I think they came out great! I'm wearing the pair even now, they are easier to wear with knitted scarves that the dangly earring I usually prefer. Dangling ones tend to get stuck on scarves or my hair from time to time. Perfect earrings for the winter!

New Shoes! (And Flowers)

Since I'm totally in love with my purple suede Lita shoes by Jeffrey Campbell, I had been looking to get another pair, preferably all black so they would be easy to combine with outfits the purple ones with wooden heels didn't match. A was in luck, because members.com had a sale on Jeffrey Campbell items just last week and they happened to offer a pair of just the ones I had been drooling over!

Say hello to the Lita Spikes!
I have yet to wear these for a whole day, but they fit well, are made of nice soft leather and look fabulous. They are quite heavy, but didn't feel cumbersome when I wore them indoors (and took out the trash in them, oh what a glamorous life I lead ;P).

And here some pictures of flowers, just because the Lidl supermarket was offering some partly wilted flowers for free. At first glance they looked too far gone, but after I took the time to pick the best ones, I ended up being greedy and grabbing three packets just to get some nice matching colours.

Möttönen is showing off her lounging skills, only one leg is on the armrest ;)

I never would have bought the peach coloured ones, but they look so nice next to the pink and yellow lilies!

Belated B-Day Shoes

My other half had ordered me a present, but it didn't arrive in time for the party. On Tuesday evening the courier finally rang the bell and I got to open one more wrapped present. My other half was kinda nervous of getting me a present, he always does it but I always end up liking what he gets me, so there's no reason :) This year was no different, he had chosen the perfect heels!

They are by Iron Fist, with pretty studs and a metallic finish!

I think these zippers are such a great detail with the skulls.
They are metallic grey in colour, so they go with lots of things! He had especially picked shoes with studs and knew that I like Iron Fist in general. So nicely thought, I'm very happy :)

And here's a "behind the scenes" picture ;P Mörkö
and Möttönen want to help and/or are very fond of
the carpet.

My Piercings

I currently have 6 earrings and three piercings. I've had five piercings at most, and I think the hole below my lower lip is still open, so that might qualify for half a piercing ;P

From top to bottom: Bridge, Medusa and the hole for a Labret.

I took my first piercing when I was nineteen (that's eight years ago!), if I remember correctly. Nineteen or eighteen. I had a nipple pierced and everything went fine, I just should have known better than to look ;) I don't like needles, but piercings haven't been any trouble, since it's over in a heartbeat.

The next one was the bridge a year or two later. I had it done on a hot summer day and it bled everywhere, and continued to do so for a few days at awkward times. Like making pancakes on a frying pan.

Then I took the labret, and was a bit pissed that the person doing it paid no heed when I said I bled a lot last time and asked him to give me some paper and be gentle. The labret didn't bleed, but I didn't go to the same place again because I felt the piercer should have listened to me better.

The Medusa was taken on a whim almost two years ago, I wanted something new and had already dyed my hair turquoise ;D Got the idea when leaving from the office and stopped by the nice piercing place to get something done. I went back and forth between a medusa and a septum, but finally went with a medusa. It swelled up horribly, but was better in a few days. I changed the ball to a small one my self, I think it looks really nice.

As for earrings, I wear titanium piercing jewelry on my helix and three other holes on the same lobe, and leave the lowest holes for regular earrings. I took the labret out about a year ago, since my other half and I had to take turns who wears what jewelry. He has a labret too and wore a ring on it, and since I liked to have a horseshoe ring on mine, we could get stuck kissing. Fun and romantic on maybe the first time, but a bit cumbersome most of the time ;P I tried to put in a small stud, but it didn't feel good against my gums so I just took it out. The hole is still there, so I might put something in it sometime.

I've also had one piercing in the "nether regions", it was a gift and I liked it, but sometimes it was in the way so I took it out (there's nothing quite like riding your bike and noticing something's gotten tangled with your underwear!). I was planning on getting the other nipple pierced, but the one that has a piercing isn't as sensitive as the other one, so I opted on having one nipple with feeling ;)

None on the piercing hurt much, it's such a short time to put the needle through, but the crunch I could hear when the bridge needle was pushed through still gives me the shivers. I heal well and haven't really had any problems with any piercing so far. I've had all mine done in respectable piercing parlours with hygienic tools. Putka in Tampere is my favourite place.
