Bella Morte @ Doris Playlist

A couple of people asked for my playlist from the last Club Bella Morte, so here it is! I mostly played classic goth, partly because I love it and partly because we arranged every DJ to have a genre they specifically play. This was to make sure we can offer many different genres and make sure they are played evenly during the night.

My first set is more industrial oriented, but moving on to classic goth in the end. I tried to transition from the previous industrial set smoothly but it took too long for the half hour sets, so I didn't do it for the later sets.

Unrequited Love Nail Polish Set, Nostalgia

I made an order to Norway Nails with a friend, and just browsed to see if I find something I like. I didn't have anything specific in mind. But when I came across the Unrequited Love set by Polished by KPT, I knew I had to have it. The set has two polishes: glitter polish and a shimmery satin finish polish, both thermal polishes. Both were also purple, which I happen to like a lot ;D

Look how pretty!

This is Nostalgia, a satin finish polish with some shimmer (no satin in my photos because I was too impatient to wait for it to dry and applied a fast-drying topcoat). In cold conditions it's dark metallic purple (the official description says plum, but on my nails it a cooler shade than plum in my opinion) and in warm it turns into a pretty shimmery pinkish lavender. When I come inside after walking out, it creates a gorgeous gradient from dark at the tips of the nails to light lavender at the base.

I really like this polish! It's pretty in both of it's forms, and it's like having three different manicures all in one. I like playing around with it, blowing on my nails makes it darken and when making a fist, the tips warm and turn light. It's easy to apply. The satin finish is very pretty, but you need to give it time to dry before applying another coat. I applied three coats for this look. Seche Vite topcoat at least works with the polish well, it does not affect the thermal effect.

I wore this on May Day to go out and buy some delicious cake. It was surprisingly cold!

I bought the Black Milk copy second hand. I'd love to have the real thing, but they are few and far between it seems, so I'll settle for this. The print isn't as clear as in the original, but then again this one I dare to wear as an everyday item. If I had the original and spilled ketchup on it or something I'd be devastated!

Smoky Eye with Glitter Look

Here's a look done with a smoky base of Blackened Violet by The Body Needs and glitter in Kaleidoscope by Darling Girl on top. A surprisingly easy look to do, and still very dramatic. Blackened Violet blends into a pinkish tone when worked very thin, I think it compliments my eye colour nicely. I paired the smoky eye with a classic red lipstick, this one is by Manhattan.

Kaleidoscope has my favourite colours, teal and purple!

Outfit of the Day

When I came home from Helsinki, there was a huge pile of packages waiting for me at home. Talk about an epic post day! The packages revealed miniature ships I ordered to use them on hats, a skirt and a cape from Artifice Clothing, a glitter vinyl jacket from Unif, a dress from Black Milk and second hand Big Litas!

I naturally had to try almost everything on ;P So here's pictures of the Black Milk dress and Big Litas. The dress is an Evil Cheerleader Lace Dress 2.0. It's super stretchy and soft, and cut just right! Also my first ever Black Milk item :) The Litas I found on a Facebook fleamarket group for a very nice price. I love my other Litas, so I really wanted these. I have in addition to these a pair in purple suede and black ones with spikes in the heel. The plain black Big Litas are easy to combine with many outfits and felt really great for walking when I popped out in them.

Mini Trip to Helsinki

Yesterday after work I jumped on a train and headed to Helsinki. The main reason for the trip was that Bassoradio had invited me to do an interview on my job. I work as a game designer, and games industry is very hot right now. They are doing a series to help young people get to know what working actually is an presenting them different occupations.

To avoid waking up super early, I travelled the 200 or so kilometres on the previous day and stayed at my parents' place for the night. Once in Helsinki I absolutely had to visit some shops that my home city does not have. I stopped by an Inglot store to buy a few of their brightly coloured gel liners and went to check out the MAC counter. I ended up not buying anything from MAC, but everything looked so pretty and the newest collection had cute plastic packaging imitating drops of water on the surface.

In the morning I noticed I'm in luck since the tramline that goes past my parents' place went straight to the Bassoradio office, so it was very easy to find my way there. They had an awesome office in an old building with mismatched lamps on the ceiling.

 Ina, who did the interview was such a nice person, we hit off immediately! We liked the same kind of shoes and that's a sure thing to help ladies bond ;D The interview went out live, but you can listen to it on Bassoradio's Souncloud. It's in Finnish only, sorry! I hope some youngsters might have now gotten a tiny bit better picture of what working in the game industry is :) Here's also their news article on the interview. They chose an excellent sentence for the headline, the fact that I'm actually not a very good player! It's true ;D My reflexes are not very quick, I'm not very motivated to win and get frustrated quickly. People often think that people who are good at playing games are also good at designing games. I personally think these things are not connected. Since I fail often, I am very well aware of how important it is for games to also take into account players who don't instantly master the game, and how they can be gently ushered into making better choices and gradually learning the game. It's actually a very rewarding experience to first suck at a game and slowly learn to master it.

I play many types of games, many slow paced variants like puzzles, adventure games, city builders, god games and casual games, and then sometimes fast paced games like the new Diablo or World of Warcraft. Naturally when it is my job I need to look at many different genres and play different games, but I still love playing. When I finish this text I'll be off to kill demons in Diablo 3 ;P

Outfit of the Day

Yesterday I bought a new skirt from H&M. I had been thinking about it for a few weeks and kinda decided I don't need it, because I tried on my usual size and it was HUGE. But something drew me back and I found a smaller one on the rack. Then I wanted it ;P

The skirt was supposed to be worn so that the long part is at a side, but I liked it more this way. It's made of soft, stretchy fabric that drapes wonderfully. The waist has a simple elastic band. Many times skirts with this cut don't have much fabric, but this one does! It cost 19,90 euros, not bad I think.

Light enough to rise when I twirl.

The fabric is light enough to respond to movements, but heavy enough to drape and not stick out. The skirt is pretty long on me, it just barely touches the ground when I wear the Demonia Swings with over ten centimetres of heel. When at home with no boots on, I sweep the floors when I walk around. For extra challenge Magnus the kitty thinks the hem trailing after me is the perfect toy and attacks it constantly ;D The hem is not finished, so I've planned to cut it a bit shorter if the skirt starts to feel cumbersome.
