Commercial Break!

I just wanted to share the new split album that my other half's band participated in making. It came out a little while ago but I got my copy today, so it came to mind that someone else might be interested also.

It's called Bones From The Backyard and features five songs by Silent Scream and another five by Murnau's Playhouse. I really like the cover, the picture has such a melancholy and magical mood!

You can listen to the split online from here.
You can buy the album internationally from here. (It's on sale, only nine euros at the moment!)
And for Finnish people, you can order it through Levykauppa X or just buy it from their Tampere shop or Swamp Music.

Goodbye Berlin!

The hotel internet was acting up, so I'm writing this from home in Finland. The trip was amazing, so many sights to see and places to visit, and great food!

On Monday we headed back to the Museum Insel and went to the Neues Museum. It holds Egyptian and Germanic items, mostly. I went there on my last visit to Berlin also, and it's a great place. The whole museum has been carefully restored to show how it was originally made, and it's been a huge effort, since it was badly damaged when Berlin was bombed.

A dark skinned Egyptian queen.

German artefacts. The walls show how they were left bare where no traces of the original wall paint was found.

A little hedgehog!

Animal mummies. The first one is a cat, if I remember correctly.

And to continue the set of pictures with lions, here's me and a Sudanese king on a lion throne.

Then we found a better lion outside next to the Spree river ;)
Tuesday was the last full day. We were really efficient and went through some shopping (Claire's, Kiko, DM and Douglas) and the Berlin Dom cathedral, then I went to Deutsches Historisches Museum and Nina to Altes, then off to have a look at the building that used to be the Nazi Air Ministry building. It was HUGE, the biggest office building in Europe. Since this was the last day, we wanted to try to squeeze in even more action, and drove the U-bahn to have a look at the Olympic Stadion. What a long day!

Berlin Dom.

Under the Dom was the Hohenzollern crypt. It was big and filled with all shapes and sizes of coffins.

After going back to the hotel, we picked up some take-away food and took turns to soak in the hotel rooms bath tub. What could be better than eating sushi and reading magazines in the tub?

Flea Markets and Mesopotamian Relics

Since most shops are closed on Sundays, we headed for a flea market to shop instead. And not just any flea market, but the huge one that's at Mauerpark every Sunday. I don't think I could have looked at all the tables even if I spent the whole day in there, so much stuff and so many people! I almost didn't find anything I wanted, because I was very specific with my needs. If I got a souvenir, it must be something to hang off a wall since at home we don't really have space to display items, other than on walls. So this is what I got in the end! It's a small oriental mask made out of dark wood. It has a chip on the top, but that just made it seem more sympathetic.

After the flea market we headed out to the Museum Insel, and decided on going to the Pergamon museum. I've been there before, but that was years ago, and I really like Mesopotamian history so it was a great choice.

A bull on the Ishtar Gate.

The lion theme continues, this is me and a Ishtar Gate lion!

A lion with its tail up.

A lion with its tail down.

Humbaba clay figurine. The Pergamon had a special exhibition of the ancient city of
Uruk that ties in with the Gilgamesh epic. It was really good, with some items on loan from other museums as well
as many things from their own extensive collections.

Winged sphinx guardian. I've seen these in the British Museum also (or was it Louvre?),
I believe these were replicas and they had the original ones.

Some lovecraftian clay figurines!

Berlin Saturday

On Saturday we went to the Tierpark Zoo to see some animals, the weather was lovely and most of the animals were active.

The polar bears.

A fancy peacock.

Me and the ridiculously huge lions ;P

Tigers.

A pot bellied pig.

Me and the manatees. They were huge and just floated in the water!

The rhino just before he tried to pee at people.

A seahorse!

A piranha, very glittery!

They had a whole house for snakes, and there were at least a thousand different species of turtles.

Afterwards we went for dinner at a Greek restaurant. This is me not looking properly excited for some free ouzo.

Nina does a better job!
We ended the night by going to the Last Cathedral, a horror style bar on Schönhauser Allee. They had cheap beer, good music and even a scantily clad lady dancing on the bar, a great place ;)

Greetings from Berlin!

I arrived yesterday and already did some shopping, ate delicious sushi and walked around a bit. The hotel internet in a total b*tch, so it didn't let me post anything yesterday, but luckily in the morning everything is better!

The hotel room. We have a room that has the same size bathroom as the living area is, and I'm totally going to take a bath in the bathtub some night!

What I wore. We went out to walk a bit and find something
to eat. The dress is from H&M (I fell in love with the print) and
leggings are by Cyberdog.

Good company is imperative while traveling, I'm with my friend Nina, since we both love beer
and museums. Nina's having a taste of some 3,5 euro wheat beer, it was excellent.

It tried some "special homemade" sushi, it was delicious! These were called lotus rolls and were served warm, they were very good :)

We also stopped by the Alexanderplatz Saturn, and I only got three cd's (might have to go back for more) and had a peek at Monster High dolls in the Kaufhaus Galerie opposite. Today we are planning to one of the zoos, the weather seems nice enough for that! Then maybe some shopping and a goth bar later, we'll see.

Lumous Look

This is my make-up from Friday! I wanted something colourful and dramatic, so I combined bright shades with black.

I used Sugarpill Stella in the crease (it's a glittery black), Sugarpill Hysteric in the middle of the lid (glittery purple, partly blended with Stella) and Sugarpill Darling in the inner corners (turquoise). Instead of heavy fake lashes I used individual lash clusters, which were a pain in the behind to glue on but looked really nice. There are also a few clusters of purple lashes on the outer corners, but they don't show well in the close-up pictures.
