Stripe Make-Up

Here's a few close-ups of the make-up I did for taking pictures with the stripy jacket. I wanted a smoky eye with some colour and short brows. And I just couldn't resist the dark purple lippie!

Products used:

Sugarpill Bulletproof (matte black)
Femme Fatale Eternal Trance (metallic dark green/teal)
Inglot gel liner in purple (for brows)
Sugarpill Tako (matte white, for highlights on the inner corners and brow bones)
Red Cherry false lashes
Fyrinnae Liquid Matte Lipstick in Desire

The false lashes work very well for my hooded eyes. Long lashes open up the eyes and give a nice liner look too. I think I should have primed the lids with a black jumbo eye pencil to get the black to look deeper, but I'll try that next time. When I blend out the edges of the black it tends to go a bit sheer.

The camera makes the black fade! I just need to pile on more the next time I do smoky eye for a shoot ;D

Taupe with an Accent Look

Today I wore a simple taupe, The Pointy End by Geek Chic Cosmetics. It's a perfect colour for my skin tone, a cool greyish-brown with a metallic sheen. When I got home I wanted to take pictures but thought that the taupe needed some extra kick, so I lined my waterline with turquoise gel liner by Inglot. Just the right amount of colour to set off the metallic taupe!

I used:
Geek Chic Cosmetics - The Pointy End (metallic taupe, as a smoky eye)
Sugarpill - Tako (matte white, as brow highlight and at inner corners)
Inglot - Gel liner 87 (dark turquoise, as waterline color)

This one shows the taupe too warm, it's actually colder. One day I will learn to use my light correctly to get the shades to
display as they should, but that day is clearly not today ;P

Sleepy Hollow, Javan Rhino and Venus Look

Yesterday evening I saw the lovely Luna of Toxid-Lotus post her wonderful look and boy was I inspired! In addition to going shopping for a few colours she used, I did a look today that has kind of the same feel to it, but it's a bit lighter and done with things I had available right away.

I used:

Urban Decay Primer Potion
Fyrinnae Sleepy Hollow (dark teal, in the crease)
Fyrinnae Javan Rhino (bright baby blue with a hint of turquoise ans a pink sheen, on the outer part of the lid and on lower lash line)
Moi Minerals Venus (medium shimmery pink, on the inner part of the lid and lower lid below the lash line)
Sugarpill Tako (matte white, on inner corners and brow bone)
Kohl pencil
Black gel liner
Black mascara
Inglot gel liner in purple (on brows)

I've been practising with liner and I think I'm getting a lot better with it! My problem is very blonde lashes, while mascara helps with the tips and lengths, the roots are hard to get black. For this look I applied kohl to the upper water line (basically drawing with the kohl pencil on the strip of skin below your upper lashes) and patted gel liner between the lashes with a small brush before lining the upper lid. The inner upper corner is done with the kohl pencil, but gel might have been a better choice to give less feathering.

And smiley full face shot! I'm wearing Sephora cream lip stain to go with the brows.

Faerie Fire and Deepmoss Look

I've been suffering from post-WGT melacholy for the last few days, adjusting back to work seems hard and I crave for pretty clothes. Today I decided to look nice and have a drink to easy the transition (my other half cooked currywurst on Thursday which also helped ;P), so here's a look done with Inglot gel liner, Femme Fatale eyeshadows called Faerie Fire and Deepmoss, and IsaDora lip stain in Vintage Wine. I re-dyed my hair earlier this week with Crazy Color Pinkissimo since the sun has faded the shade to a lavender tone at the festival.

It's quite a light look actually, the main thing is the lovely green sheen of Faerie Fire! It's a pale pink with a strong green shift. Deepmoss is a deep shimmery teal, I used it just to darken the outer edge and lower lid a bit. My eyebrows are done with Inglot gel liner, which is totally magical, it stayed pristine in the sweat and heat of WGT festival!

IsaDora Color Chock Lip Stain in Vintage Wine. Such a pretty shade, and now my camera even picked up the hint of blue shimmer in it!

The camera seemed to think I'm an albino ;P Pink hair helps a lot with getting the
right color balance with automatic settings, the turquoise was much harder for
some reason!

Inglot Gel Liners Swatches

On my mini trip to Helsinki I visited an Inglot store and bought three gel eyeliners. The shades are 74, a plum purple, 87, turquoise, and 72, pink.

My main reason for getting these babies was to do colourful brows. I've done my brows with just black for years, and it gets boring. Mixing eyeshadow with mixing medium to make it a liner each morning would be too cumbersome, and pencil eyeliners don't stay put on my brow area.

Sadly one of the liner pots was missing the seal and had dried. I naturally only noticed it when home, over 200 kilometres from the Inglot store. It's the pink one, you can see how much less product it seems to hold, and it had separated a bit, thus there's grains on the surface. I emailed them and they sent me a new one very fast, so I'd say the customer service was excellent.

The pictures above were taken in artificial light and they look too warm on my screen.

The purple, 74, is a red based plum purple. It's the thinnest in consistency, I needed two coats to make it opaque. If you apply another coat while the previous is still moist, the brush will take the lower layer with it. If you let the liner dry thoroughly, the next coat applies easily.

72, pink, is quite warm and not as bright as in my pictures. I was planning to try how it works as a lipstick, since the shade might not work with my skintone as a liner.

87, the turquoise, is my favourite of the bunch. It's opaque with one coat and matches my hair perfectly! In my pictures its more blue than in real life. The consistency is perfect, I can draw my brows with a few strokes.

The liners last very well on skin. They don't smudge or crumble, and washing with soap doesn't take them off, you need an oil-based make-up remover. I'm not sure how tightly the pots close, so drying might be an issue, but I can't say yet. There's a generous amount of product in each pot and I heard that if they do dry, you can use Inglot's Duraline mixing medium to give them more moisture.
