Colourful Cthulhu

This is what I wore last Saturday to go out and listen to the Coffinshakers! My other half was so nice, he drove all the way to Helsinki and back, as I'm still taking lessons to get my license. Things seem so much easier with a car, can't wait to be able to drive it myself ;D

Dress - Black Milk Cthulhu vs Haunted House Inside Out Dress
Necklace - Rogue and the Wolf
Ring - Bloodmilk Jewellery

Nothing too fancy, just straightened hair and a super comfy dress to get through the two hours drive each way. I hunted high and low for this dress, but finally found one on eBay. It's basically to dresses in one, as you can turn it inside out for a different print. The perfect item to pack when traveling light!

The gig was great! I listened to Coffinshakers alot when I was younger and didn't even know they were still together, but luckily spotted the concert and got us tickets early. The place was sold out and a bit crowded, but since we were there only to listen to the gig and then head back home, it wasn't a problem. Horro country music makes everything good!

Bella Morte @ Doris Playlist

A couple of people asked for my playlist from the last Club Bella Morte, so here it is! I mostly played classic goth, partly because I love it and partly because we arranged every DJ to have a genre they specifically play. This was to make sure we can offer many different genres and make sure they are played evenly during the night.

My first set is more industrial oriented, but moving on to classic goth in the end. I tried to transition from the previous industrial set smoothly but it took too long for the half hour sets, so I didn't do it for the later sets.

After the Flesh - My Life w The Thrill Kill Kult
Juke Joint Jezebel - KMFDM
Butterfly Dance - Diary Of Dreams
Jasmine And Rose - Clan of Xymox
Ceremonial - Star Industry
Syria - Specimen
To Cut A Long Story Short - Spandau Ballet

Evelyn - Xymox
Salome - Killing Miranda
Evangeline - The Mission
Ave Maria - The Cruxshadows
Lucretia My Reflection - The sisters of Mercy

Friday I'm In Love - The Cure
Spellbound - Siouxsie & The Banshees
You'll End Up Looking Like the Scary Bitches - Scary Bitches
The Disbeliever (radio edit) - The Upper Classes
Tainted Love - Soft Cell
Open Your Eyes - The Lords Of The New Church
Kings And Queens - Killing Joke
Black Madonna - Angels of Liberty

Commercial Break! / Mainostauko!

Upeista upeimmat Samhain-bileet ovat taas tulossa! Bella Morte ja Club Underworld yhdistävät voimansa ja tuovat synkät tahdit taas Laternan tunnelmalliseen ympäristöön. Meitsi soittelee musaa, joten toiveita saa esittää! Luvassa on perinteinen pukukilpailu, jossa tulee olemaan loistavat palkinnot. Pippalot olivat viime vuonna loppuunmyydyt, joten liikkeellä kannattaa olla ajoissa. Tästä Facebook-eventtiin jonka kautta saa uusimmat tiedot!

The weird and wonderful Samhain party of Bella Morte and Club Underworld is coming again! I'm playing music so I can promise some nice tunes, and feel free to request specific songs. The costume competition will once again have great prices, and the place is likely to be packed full. Last year the party was sold out, so be sure to be early! Click here for the Facebook event to get the latest news!

Post-Punk on Saturday / Commercial Break!

On Saturday Kuudes Silmä and Murnau's Playhouse are performing in O'Hara's. It's such nice venue, small and cozy, and with a great selection of beers! There's no entry fee so feel free to stop by if you have time :) The event starts at eleven and there are two DJ's to keep good music playing until the closing time! Here's a link to the Facebook event for most up-to-date information!

Commercial Break!

I just wanted to share the new split album that my other half's band participated in making. It came out a little while ago but I got my copy today, so it came to mind that someone else might be interested also.

It's called Bones From The Backyard and features five songs by Silent Scream and another five by Murnau's Playhouse. I really like the cover, the picture has such a melancholy and magical mood!

You can listen to the split online from here.
You can buy the album internationally from here. (It's on sale, only nine euros at the moment!)
And for Finnish people, you can order it through Levykauppa X or just buy it from their Tampere shop or Swamp Music.

Sick of Being Sick!

No one ever wants to be sick, but this is such a bad time to go down with a flu! I had to cancel a lecture yesterday and my work deadlines are just around the corner. Well, it's never a good time to be sick, as I like to say, but totally unfair that I have to stay in bed when I'd have so much interesting stuff to do. Oh well!

The goth event last weekend as awesome, so I thought I'd share a few videos from there. I'm a lazy photographer at gigs, I like to just enjoy the atmosphere and not worry about documenting stuff. It was great that Oskar, who runs the This Is Gothic Rock Youtube channel was there and shot some video!

I really like Silent Scream's 80's style sound! They played a cover from Joy Division as the last song :) I bought their newest album, too, and really liked it.

Psyyke is and old Finnish band, but they have such amazing energy in their performances! The audience isn't that active, but I think everyone had fun. You can see me if you look closely! I've seen Psyyke three times and they've always been great :)

This is from the previous week in Helsinki. I was DJ'ing so I didn't have so much time to enjoy the bands, but Lepakkomies was a really nice venue with good acoustics and fancy lighting.

Club Underworld Look

Yesterday was Club Underworld, the event I'm co-organizing. We had a superb band and an excellent guest DJ, everything went really well! There were not so many people attending, but that was because there were a few other events at the same time, so no biggie :)

Wreckdance was playing, they were great! They haven't published an album yet, but it's coming.

I continued with my smoky eye looks, and did one with black, pink and purple. The pink kind of got lost and turned purpley, but it's there, I promise ;)

I used:

Face
MAC Studio Sculpt foundation
Evil Shades Matte Silk powder
Evil Shades Pink Noise blush

Eyes
Urban Decay Primer Potion
Sugarpill Bulletproof (on lid and blended above crease)
Darling Girl Cosmetics Obviously a Wig (at the edge of Bulletproof)
Fyrinnae Nevermore (on top of Bulletproof and blended between it and Obviously a Wig)
Sugarpill Tako (on browbone and inner corners)
MAC Fluidline Blacktrack

Lips
Morgana Cryptoria gel lipstick Athena
Morgana Cryptoria lipstick Licorice

I did gradient lips to make them look fuller, there's black at the corners and pink in the middle.

And this is what I wore! The shoes were a bit big for me, but I didn't remember it when I put them on and was too lazy to take them off to add a thicker sock. The lacing goes all the way up and isn't the speed lacing type, so it takes ages to wiggle the laces through every tiny hole.

Hat - Seppälä
Necklace - Glitter
Dress - Lip Service
Corset - Second hand, Burleska
Shoes - Second hand, Pennangalan
Bracelets - Glitter

Here you can see the make-up better, and also my earrings. They are one of my favourites.

I carefully curled the ends of my hair, but it was raining outside so it straightened out. At least it shows in the pictures!

I tried something different with my hair, I'm not sure if it worked out so well, but there's one victory roll, a tiny hat and the loose hair is curled and there are a few black clip-in extensions tossed in as well.

I had a really fun night, the best part was when there were only a few people left and we danced to all the good songs, and the part when I remembered there was still leftover feta salad in the fridge at home ;P I also drew a heart for my boyfriend in the sleet that had fallen during the night, very romantic to stomp a symbol into the wet slush on the parking lot, so he could see it from our bedroom window. I also got my shoes wet, a sacrifice for love!

Current 93

Yesterday I went to listen to Current 93 in Helsinki. The band is one of my favourites, although their records are quite varied and I don't like all the albums. The gig was at a theatre, with the audience seated. I had a good seat right in the first row on the balcony. I don't know what I was expecting, but I think the fist half of the performance was a bit boring, but luckily the last songs saved it. I love The Inmost Light and Lucifer over London!

Here's a version from youtube so you can enjoy it too :)

I wore a brown smokey eye look and forgot to take a picture of my outfit, but I had a simple little black dress, black tights and a black pvc bolero. When I got back to Tampere at 01:00 am, it was snowing and the whole city looked magical, if somewhat damp. The snowflakes were HUGE and wet and didn't last long on the ground. The poster I had bought at the show got some damage from the melting snow, but it's a nice souvenir still. When my hair was damp from the snowfall I put it up for the night to keep, and in the morning it had lovely waves to cheer up my tired start of the day!

Here's my look from yesterday. I first did it with only Detrivore Cosmetics, but felt the darker brown was still too light, so I added some Doe-eyed on top and somehow messed the blending and had to fix it with q-tips. I also used a new blending brush, it's nice but I need some time to get used to it.

I used:
Detrivore Cosmetics Tarantula (on inner half of lids)
Detrivore Cosmetics Wraith (on whole lid and crease)
Concrete Minerals Doe-Eyed (to darken the outer crease)
Evil Shades China Doll blush (I think my blush brush wasn't clean, the colour looks too dark to be only China Doll)
Gosh lipstain 003 Berry

Just Music

Since I'm home trying to shrug off a nasty flu, I've been listening to music and thought I'd share :) So here are some of my favourites!

Belaboris is an old finnish band. There's a compilation cd coming out soon so I'm waiting impatiently! I really like their music, but it's hard to find since they only released three singles and one album in the 80's on vinyl. But soon I can listen to the cd whenever I want!

I love older albums by the Cure. Pornography is my absolute favourite and this song is one of the best, although I think the album works best listened non-stop from start to finish.

Who would like Siouxsie? This song reminds me of my year studying art. I used to listen to it while riding my bike to the train station to spend weekends with my friends.

I missed the live show when Ordo was in Finland in 2002 and I still can't forget it ;P They should be at WGT this year, so maybe I can finally get over it!

I listened to this today because I miss my other half ;) He was away the whole weekend, but soon he'll be back from work and cook us dinner. That's him singing. Besides singing well, he's also an excellent cook ;P
