Lolita Look

Yesterday I went picking mushroom and enthused about buying an apartment. I just have to get my other half convinced that painting walls and hanging wallpaper is fun ;) But I already promised him we can get a gas stove that he likes, so maybe we will get a new apartment in the future! I love renovating (or it has been so long since I installed laminate floors that I've forgotten how tiring it is) and really miss my old apartment. It had the prettiest wallpaper ever and a nice dark floor, and the kitchen cabinets were shiny and white. I've been drooling over Ikea kitchens and dreaming of coloured walls. The apartment we live in now is really nice, but we are not allowed to paint the walls and the wallpaper is a horrid yellowed beige thing, and the fridge doesn't have enough shelves and smells funny no matter how many times I wash it.

Anyway, today we went to see one potential apartment, I was in love but he wasn't, so we will keep looking. I had time in the morning to play with makeup, so I did a simple but elegant taupe look.

I used:

Concrete Minerals Lolita
Black mascara
Sugarpill Bulletproof (on brows)

A Summer Look

Last week it was super hot, so I pranced around the city looking like this.

Sun glasses - H&M (maybe, they are a few years old)
Lacy coat - Gina Tricot
Top - Gina Tricot
Hotpants - Cubus
Bag - Second hand
Shoes - Spirit Store

Gina Tricot is selling tons of lacy stuff right now, and most of it also comes in black! I've shopped there like crazy ;P I've gotten black lace hotpants, the coat thingie and a dress so far. You can also see my other tattoo in the pic, it was done by my former colleague who was training to become a tattoo artist. I wanted a rose, to represent the beauty in life and how I had finally gotten my own life the way I wanted it to be. The rose is done in purple and pink, with a turquoise background including a small bat, just to show not all roses are red :) The tattoo was done on my birthday in December 2010.

Anniina's Nails

I did my friend Anniina's nails for Lumous. I had never done gel nails to anyone else than my self, so it was really exciting to get to try my skills! I think the nails came out really nice and Anniina liked them :)

Anniina chose oval shaped nails with light turquoise glitter tips. These were my second glitter nails ever, and the glitter sure is a pain in the bottom to file smooth on the edges! Anniina filed the nail tips to shape herself and did some of the work with the glitter too. The tips were originally stiletto tips, but were cut down. The glitter was regular craft glitter, the wet gel on top of the nail was just dipped in glitter and then the unruly glitter particles gently padded on the nail and away from the edges. The glitter was coated with another gel layer and a top coat.

Another Pic from Lumous!

My friend Grendel sent me a few pics he took at Lumous! It was really hard to get a decent full body shot since there was so much smoke from the stage and not so much free space or light.

That's me and my dry cider enjoying the night at Klubi ;P I wore ripped stockings and the skeleton heels, since they are super comfy. You can also almost see my frilly black pvc handbag, that's shaped like a heart. It's originally from H&M, but I got it from the Finnish goth flea market on Facebook. It was pretty beat up, but I painted the scratches black and polished it well.

Today I'm down with sinusitis, which totally sucks since this was supposed to be my last day of work before a two week holiday. But since it's pouring outside, I might as well sit inside and watch Bridezillas and dutifully take my medicine so the infection will go away soon :) It was good to find a reason why I've been so tired lately, apparently I was just too stubborn (or stupid ;P) to take a while to rest to let my body heal from the wisdom tooth operation a few weeks ago. Well, maybe I'll learn to take it easier, there's just been so much fun stuff to do at the office, that I didn't want to stay home even when feeling sick.

I promise tons of cat pictures if I'm still feeling sick tomorrow, since my other half is leaving for a birthday party at a summer cottage and I'll be home alone. Alone with five kitties, that is! Life is never boring with cats!

Louboutin Nails

I can't remember on which blog I saw the idea for this manicure, but I was instantly inspired. Partly because the Demon Hunter character in Diablo 3 clearly wears Louboutin heels ;P

Sinful Colours Daddy's Girl on top
(I'm a bit boring with my nail polish choices ;P)

And Essie Lovie Dovie underneath!
I did the short stiletto UV-gel nails earlier, they came out really nice, so thin yet durable. I'm going to try the manicure with other colours later, I'm sure black top parts will look awesome with any other colour!

Lumous Saturday and Sunday

On Saturday I stopped by the Dark Market event, where shops and boutiques set up booths to sell their wares. My other half went to a picnic, but I decided to take a nap instead to help with the slight cold I had caught. So I got a pizza to go, ate well, played with the kitties and took a long nap. An excellent way to prepare for a busy evening ;P

What I got from the Dark Market: Pretty appliques from a shop called Susitaika.

Albums by Wreckdance and Loistava Polku, a book with specualtive fiction short stories
and purple fishnet gloves. I also got another book, on black magic, but I read it yesterday
and apparently put it down somewhere I can't find.

The day turned rainy and my other half returned soaking wet, so he skipped the pre-party and we met later at the club. My friend Anniina had promised to do my hair in exchange for me doing her nails earlier (and they turned out just lovely, I'll post pictures later!) so I walked to her place, where there already was some beer and friends, and prepared for the club. She did such a wonderful job on my hair, I was super happy!

I had bought 26 inch clip in extensions from eBay and dyed them with the same purple I use on my hair, so they matched it perfectly. Anniina put the extensions in and helped curl all the hair.

Sari took the pictures, unfortunately it was getting dark already so there wasn't enough light and they came out a bit grainy. I still like them very much!

Tiara - Made by me
Hair extensions - eBay
Necklace - Miss X Aesthetic Laboratories
Top - Lip Service
Corset - Burleska (second hand)

(What I also wore but don't show in the pics)
Black hotpants - Sonia Rykiel for H&M collection (supposed to be panties, but they are made of thick stretchy satin and have a pretty zipper detail in the back)
Purple leopard pantyhose - Super old, maybe Leg Avenue
Black shiny leather boots with buckles - Pennangalan

I had planned to wear a black lace skirt, but since it had been raining, I thought lugging wet hems around wouldn't have been fun and opted for hotpants.

Look at the cool dead flowers Anniina had on her balcony! Looks just like most
of my plants, I definitely don't have a green thumb ;)

I was really happy with the length of the extensions and how well they
blended in with my real hair. My hair is quite thick, so I got two sets of
extensions and just sewed them together on one set of clips.

I saw pics of pretty nail polish jewelry on Facebook in the morning, and happened
to have all the needed supplies at hand, so I made a ring. Came out really nice,
the picture doesn't do it justice!

I stopped to have a beer with another friend before going to the club and only saw the last band of the evening, Extinction Front. It wasn't really my type of music, but most of the audience seemed to like it. I chilled out on the terrace and enjoyed some dry cider. We also had a small afterparty, a few good friends and some excellent music, absinthe and beer. I got to bed at half past six in the morning, but it was worth it!

Random pic of my other halfs undercut.

He's wearing Sugarpill Love+ ;)

On Sunday we skipped the goth picnic because it was a bit rainy and I wanted to sleep in. Sunday's party, called The End, is always the best one in the whole festival! The band that played before The End, WHRMCHT, was okay but not for me. But the party was just awesome, plenty of drinks, dancing your ass off shirtless and singing until your voice is gone. An excellent end to an excellent Lumous!

The End outfit, chosen mostly for comfort!
Earrings - Made by me
Top - Lip Service
Hotpants - Second hand
Shoes - New Rock (second hand)

Now I'm off to clean the apartment and give my feet some TLC after four days in high heels!
