Just kidding! This Halloween we are not apartment shopping, but going to dress up fancy for a costume party! This is my dress for the Bella Morte and Underworld Samhain party, before I pour tons of fake blood all over it ;D I found it at a thrift store in the summer and bought it because I already knew the Samhain party was going to happen. The previous owner must have been a beauty queen, the dress is snug on my behind but there was room for another set of boobs at the top ;) I took it in at the side seams a bit so now it fits nicely. The shoulder pads are HUGE, but I guess I'll be a zombie bride who died in the 80's :D
I just couldn't resist taking some shots with it before I paint it with acrylics for a bloody effect and shred the veil. So far I've only spent around 30 euros on the project, I'm happy I found the dress so early and it fit me well enough!
Fooled me! Was just about to shriek Congrats, but... why is your wedding gown white... :P
ReplyDeleteIt's a lovely dress, though, I bet you'll look kick-ass soaked in blood ^^
Haha, thanks! I hope it comes out nice!
DeleteHaha fooled me as well! XDD
ReplyDeleteThe dress actually looks amazing, I really thought it would be a shame to trash it! :O
I'm also not a fan of the whole zombie thing, but I'm sure you'll pull it off fabulously! Good luck!
I've been wanting a dead bride costume for quite some time, I'm hoping to be able to re-use it at a zombiewalk or do a photoshoot with it later. It looks so nice now that I'm sure it will have a lot of use after being zombiefied!
DeleteLoistava asu! Istuu pelottavan hyvin sulle - ehta kasarimorsio :D Itekin miettinyt ostavani jostain UFFilta niitä jänniä hääpukuja ja käyttäväni niitä naamiaisissa, mutta toistaiseksi pyytävät aika kovia hintoja, vaikkeivät puvut olisi ihan viimeisimmän muodin mukaisia... Ehkä jostain löytyy miullekin kohtuuhintainen yksilö!
ReplyDeleteKiitos!
DeleteMix a little clear glazing medium with your acrylic paint, so it doesn't look chalky. Blood is ever so slightly translucent.
ReplyDeleteThanks, sounds like a great tip!
Deletea great halloween outfit!!
ReplyDeleteThanks, I hope it comes out nice!
DeleteThe dress is so pretty-- I'm feeling slightly bad that it'll go through that, since the cut is ever so classy! Heh... but if it means you'll be sporting a fine Halloween costume, than I suppose it's worth it!
ReplyDeleteThanks! I understand what you mean, I've grown pretty fond of the dress as it is, but then again there are no occasions to wear it. I guess it will see more use when bloody ;D
DeleteI must say I like this dress :D:D And I am also curious how would it look when it will be altered (I hope you will show us!:D)
ReplyDeleteI promise I'll take pictures!
DeleteI cannot wait to see the finished product!!!!
ReplyDeleteI hope I have time to do a little shoot with it before the party, but at least afterwards there's plenty of opportunities :)
Deletethis will be an amazing costume, and you very much tricked me.I was about to congratulate you!
ReplyDeleteHa ha, thanks! :)
DeleteThat's a gorgeous dress!! I love 80s shoulder pads! And you look really beautiful in it!
ReplyDeleteThank you! At first I thought I should remove the sleeves, but they are growing on me. They do accentuate the waistline nicely and well, they are just so 80's that who wouldn't love them ;D
Deletetease! The dress is pretty, can't wait to see it covered in blood.
ReplyDeleteWow it's a gorgeous dress :D
ReplyDeleteThat dress is simply gorgeous, even with the massive puffy sleeves! The mermaid hem is so beautiful, it's almost a shame that you'll be covering it in blood but when else will you be able to wear it other than a wedding and Halloween! I'm looking forward to seeing your transformation from beautiful blushing bride to a ghoulish brain eater!
ReplyDeleteThanks! I feel the same, it's a gorgeous dress, but needs some blood to be more usable ;D
DeleteThat dress is gorgeous, but it'll probably be even prettier with some blood!
ReplyDeleteThank you! I hope it will! I'm curious of how the beads and sequins will look, but naturally I'm hoping they will still glitter nicely!
DeleteItseasiassa tuo mekko on kyllä aika tyylikäs, jopa nykystandardien mukaan :)
ReplyDeleteOnko puhvihihat tulossa takaisin?
DeleteLeikkaus on kyllä tosi nätti, olet ihan oikeassa! Merenneidot on mulle mieleen :)
DeleteThats wonderful and fits so good! Really bautiful. I'm exited how it will look like with blood on it :)
