Satan's Bride Goes Clubbing

Yay for Halloween parties! I didn't have that much time to actually party at the Samhain event I was organizing, so it was great that my friends organized a Halloween house party. There was cake and bright green dip for chips and tiny meringue ghosts, everything was so delicious and I had time to just sit and chat with people!

I decided to re-use my last year's Halloween costume, an old wedding dress with sequins and beads and huge shoulderpads. I planned to be a vampire bride, but work ran late and I didn't have time to fix my teeth, so I was bride of the devil instead. Just minus the teeth and plus a pair of horns and an inverted cross, easy! ;D

Here's some pics taken at home with a decent flash, it's always so dark this time of year that it's tricky to take decent photos!

Dress and veil - Second hand
Tiara - Too Fast
Horns - eBay, customized
Super cheap wig - Punanaamio

I chose to wear Shiro Cosmetics Ganonodorf on my lids. The flash brings out the metallic sheen it has, but mostly it was just a dark brown in low lighting. A very nice eyeshadow to work with, it blended like a dream and lasted through the night on top of Urban Decay Primer Potion.

The lip colour is Copenhagen Soft Matte Lip Cream by Nyx, the perfect dark, vampy red! The matte texture allowed me to paint a bit outside my lips to make them look bigger. The paleness is a Grimas water based face paint. I stay away from the oil based ones, they make me super shiny, but the water based ones work really well with my skin. I only lightly powdered my face and added some Sugarpill Tako to the spots that usually lose color first, like the tip and bridge of my nose and forehead. Then just a quick swipe of contouring with Sugarpill Poison Plum and Afterparty (dark purple and a bright, dark green) and the skin was done. I was lazy and skipped my hands, they are not as pale as the face.

For an even more dramatic look, I popped on some Red Cherry fake lashes and painted lower lashes with a gel liner. The brows and cross are also done with gel liner, that way I got them dark and the gel lasts really well.

Mehron Stage Blood was a silly choice for the blood stain. It looks gorgeous and is thick like real blood, very nice product to work with, but it's not meant to dry but rather stay sticky for a long time. Good for movie sets but bad for costumes with long hair that wants to stick to the blood constantly ;D Well, at least this year I did not glue the dress to my chest area with the sticky blood, because the dress was already finished. Even the blood from last year still did become a bit sticky when it encountered sweat and heat, but it was nothing compared to how much trouble I had in getting the dress off last year!

I'm not very happy with the super cheap wig, it's so shiny, sheds like a cat in spring, and the hair is very thick and hard to manage. It worked fine for low light conditions, but the poor quality really shows. I guess the next time I want a wig I'll just go browse what cosplayers use, they always have such neat wigs!

This is from the party, me with the special guest Bob ;P
After the house party we went out to a nightclub to drink and dance some more. I think the last time I danced to Spice Girls was in junior high school, but it sure was fun this time too! I even won the club's costume competition! The only real competition were my lovely, gorgeous friends, since most of the nightclub guests wore very cheap costumes, if any. But there was the pair of "sexy banana's in pajamas", which made me think there is absolutely no costume that cannot be a sexy version ;D

  1. I love the horns, you look amazing!

Technically a shedding wig is more creepy, imagine a bride's hair falling out and shedding everywhere! Ew!

  3. Missä olitte tanssimassa? Ei ihmekään, että voitit asukilpailun, näytät upealta! Silmämeikki on aivan mahtava, sopii sulle todella hyvin! Oletko mahtanut tehdä blogiin joskus jotain 20's look-tyylistä juttua, sulle varmaan sopisi ihan törkeän hyvin 20-lukulainen meikki? Kuvatkin on hyvin onnistuneita valaistusolosuhteista huolimatta, tykkään ihan erityisen paljon tuosta kolmannesta kuvasta, tosi hyvä!

    1. Kiitos!

    1. You are very welcome! With just a few products it's quite easy to do, and since everything was of the quality I use for everyday wear (well maybe not the white base ;D) the look lasted very well through the night :)

  5. Wonderful costume :) And your makeup further proves that non-alternative people's Halloween looks got nothing on the creations of freaky peeps. (Sorry for the hate but the normal crowd usually cannot handle black eyeshadow and it is too funny around this time of the year.)

    1. Thank you! I'm so experienced in handling black eyeshadow that someone who doesn't use it often can't compete ;D
